Dr. Guy Ely, MD

Dr. Ely is currently a Senior Medical Consultant for Merck KGaA as well as serving on a number of scientific advisory boards. Prior to joining Merck, Dr. Ely was the Chief Medical Officer of Chemokine Therapeutics Corp., prior to that, he served as Vice President, Clinical and Medical Affairs at Biomira Inc., where he supervised the global clinical development of the Company's lead cancer vaccines. As Vice President, Clinical and Medical Affairs at Lorus Therapeutics, Dr. Ely directed the global clinical development of anti-cancer drugs, including leading the Phase III planning of the lead immunotherapeutic compound for pancreatic cancer in Canada and the United States. As Associate Medical Director at SmithKline Beecham Canada, Inc. (now GlaxoSmithKline), he directed all clinical research and development activities, including execution of approximately fifty international clinical trials in Canada. Prior senior posts also include Vice President, Clinical and Medical Affairs at Biochem Therapeutics, Inc., Director, Clinical Research at Abbott Laboratories Canada Inc., Medical Director at Asta Medica, France, and Manager of Clinical Investigation and Medical Advisor for Ciba-Geigy Canada, Inc.

Dr. Cockcroft, currently at the Royal University Hospital , University of Saskatchewan , is best known for his research in respiratory health. He graduated with a bachelor of science in chemistry and his MD from the University of British Columbia before completing his FRCP(c) at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Dr. Cockcroft has been awarded various honours, including the Alfred Soffer Research award in 2004 and the Patrick Gill Memorial Lectureship, awarded by the Atlantic Thoracic Society in 1999. Dr. Cockcroft is presently an associate member of the Department of Physiology and the Department of Pharmacology. He has many scholarly publications to his credit, and is widely regarded as an expert in the field of asthma.

Dr. D'Urzo is presently a family physician and the director of the Primary Care Asthma Clinic, Toronto , ON . His previous appointments include lecturer at the University of Toronto in the Department of Family and Community Medicine, committee member for the implementation of Canadian Asthma Guidelines for the Canadian Thoracic Society, and a member of the European Respiratory Society.

Dr. Hargreave is currently a professor in the Department of Medicine at McMaster University . Prior to joining McMaster, Dr. Hargreave had numerous appointments, including; the Department of Clinical Immunology at the Institute of Disease of the Chest in London, the Sputum Task Force of European Respiratory Society, the chair of Bronchoprovocation committee at the American Academy of Allergy and Immunology, and the chair of Occupational Lung Disease at the American Academy of Allergy and Immunology. He graduated from the University of Leeds with second-class honours and went on to complete several postgraduate designations in London , England . Dr. Hargreave has earned numerous awards, including the Scientific Accomplishment Award from the American Thoracic Society and an Honorary Life Membership from the Ontario Thoracic Society. In addition, Dr. Hargreave has published over three hundred and seventy articles on various asthma issues.
Dr. Charles G. Irvin, Ph.D.

Dr. Irvin's research focus is on lung mechanics and asthma. He graduated with a bachelor of arts in biology and went on to complete his PhD in pulmonary physiology from the University of Wisconsin , and post doctorate in lung mechanics from McGill University in Montreal , Quebec . Dr. Irvin was previously a professor at the National Jewish Center, University of Colorado in the Department of Molecular Physiology and Biophysics before accepting his current position as the Director of the Vermont Lung Center at the University of Vermont. Dr. Irvin published numerous articles on the topic of asthma.
Jack Wanger, MS

Mr. Wanger was previously the Manager and Technical Director of the Pulmonary Physiology Unit at the National Jewish Medical and Research Center in Denver , Colorado before becoming the Manager of Pulmonary Physiology Services at PRA International, one of the world's leading clinical development organizations. Other appointments include consultant for the Asthma Clinical Research Network, committee member for the American Thoracic Society on Proficiency Standards for Clinical Pulmonary Function Laboratories, and expert on the panel for the American Association for Respiratory Care.

Dr. Braun is currently the VP of Clinical Research at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America and oversees clinical research operations regarding project planning, design, execution, and analysis. With over twenty-five years of experience, a few areas of his expertise include immunology, microbiology, oncology, and inflammatory disease. Dr. Braun has had various appointments including the Experimental Therapeutics Study Section of the National Cancer Institute, the Experimental Immunology and Immunotherapy Study Section of the American Cancer Society and recently he served as the Administrative Director of the Medical College of Ohio Cancer Institute.
Dr. Michael Thirlwell, MD, ABIM, FACP

Dr. Thirlwell is presently employed at the McGill University Health Center, Montreal General Hospital with a clinical focus on medical oncology. He is a recipient of the Elaine T. & Charles H. Peters Distinguished Scholar in Medical Oncology. He is on several advisory boards, including Eli Lilly, Novartis, and US Biosciences.
